The information below is general to all hunts. For specific information

On
most hunts, you should plan to spend the night before and possibly
the night after your hunt in Challis, Idaho. If you desire we
can make hotel reservations for you.
Our base of operation will be out
of Challis, Idaho. If you are planning on driving, this will be
your destination. If you are planning on flying, you have 3 options
of arrival airports. The most accessible to Challis are Idaho
Falls, Boise, and Missoula, Montana. If flying, you should plan
on renting a car and driving to Challis. You can pick the airport
most suited to your connections and cost. We will provide additional
information regarding travel plans once your hunt dates are confirmed.
The fee for a non-hunter accompanying
a hunter on any hunt is one-half the cost of the hunt.
On all special hunts, the hunt is
for the species listed only. Any other species hunted is subject
to a $500.00 trophy fee.
We
provide everything except personal gear, sleeping bag, archery
equipment, or rifle. Please see our Gear
List to assist in your packing.
On
all hunts except mountain lion, horses are used for transportation
between base camps, high camps, and to the hunting areas. These
are true mountain hunts in high rugged terrain. If you book a
hunt with us, you can expect to hunt hard. The elevation in our
area, is between 7,000' and 10,000' above MSL. Terrain varies
from easy to difficult with a mix of sagebrush and pine forest.
Pre-hunt conditioning is very important for the success
of your hunt. Take the time to get in shape so you will be able
to enjoy your hunt more. Strengthen your legs and wind, this will
pay off when you have to move fast for that trophy of a lifetime.
Our guides will be in shape, but will only hunt as hard as you
can, we will not run you into the ground. For the safety and well
being of our clients and our horses, we request that all clients
be prepared to walk and lead their assigned horses downhill. If
you are not able to walk downhill, then more than likely, our
hunts are much too physically demanding for you, and you should
consider other hunt options!
Sleeping
arrangements are in tents with cots and foam pads. You will be
awakened with a hot beverage of your choice. At this time your
stove will be lit, so you can dress in comfort. Breakfast and
dinner each day are served in the cook tent. Our food is first
class, you won't be disappointed! A sack lunch is provided while
hunting.
Your
guide will work hard at completing your hunt successfully. He
will skin and field dress your game and prepare the hide for delivery
to the taxidermist. Your meat and hide will be transported to
your point of departure, where final meat cutting, cold storage
and taxidermy are your responsibility. We can make recommendations
for local processing.
