addition, bring personal items such as toothbrush, towel, handkerchiefs,
camera, prescription and over the counter medicine you use,
etc. Pack your gear in Army type duffle bags, and try to keep
the total weight of the gear to 45 pounds, excluding your rifle
or bow and sleeping bag. Two smaller duffle bags are easier
for us to pack on the mules, then one huge one. We provide rifle
scabbards and saddle bags. You may bring your own if you prefer.
We will have a few bow scabbards, but archery hunters should
plan on bringing their own, or some other type of carrying device,
for the travel on horseback.
Lion
Hunts: Because of the nature of the hunt, layering your clothing
is essential. Sub zero temperatures in this area are common
during the lion hunting season. Be sure to bring a day pack
capable of holding your extra clothing. You may be layering
up or down several time a day while on the trail. Good quality
warm clothing and footgear, are essential. If you already have
your own snowshoes you may bring them. Knee high, waterproof
gaiters will keep your boots and trousers dry.
